Behaviour

No button — the surface stays calm
Auto-retry: exponential backoff (~2→4→8s, cap ~30s) + instant retry on the online event
Held line cools to grey; warms to copper the moment it sends
Tap the grey line to force a retry now — hidden UI, no chrome
Status ring oxblood while down → hollow grey once back
